I purchased this as well as a tyonit docking station. The tyonit is admittedly simpler with no magsafe connection, but at the end of the day they do the samething. The Ascrono comes packaged in the cheapest box possible from China. It's workmanship is not at the standard I would expect for this pricepoint. The tyonit is around $69 vs $200. Go with the tyonit!
I'm using this laptop stand with my 2014 MacBook Pro 14" to save space on my desk when connected to my external display and keyboard. The stand's wide base and weighted design ensures my MacBook is secure and stable when docked, which was a concern I had before ordering. The stand comes with a small magnetic adapter that plugs into the USB-C port on my MacBook, and allows for a cable-free connection. I can dock and undock my MacBook quickly now without having to mess around with cords. There are rubber bumpers to prevent scratches where my MacBook contacts the stand. This is a high-quality aluminum stand with a premium design and it looks great on my desk.
Great value for the money. I compared this and the Ascrono dock which is about 3x more expensive and prefer the Tyonit.
This is great if you’re sure that you don’t want to be using your laptop very much as a , like, “laptop” . In other words, if you want convert your laptop 100 percent into a desktop to where you’re never really going to be taking it anywhere or unfolding it, the is is for you. Otherwise, I would t recommend.
I was sooo skeptical when I ordered this stand, thinking it would just end up in on another shelf somewhere collecting dust. It looked too cool to be this good... I have never been so thrilled to be wrong! The aluminum design is simply perfect. The fit is so exact that I want to shake the hand of the designer and manufacturer.I've used magnetic connections on other devices and one of them actually killed my old previous Macbook Pro! So, after making sure I had adequate device coverage and a data backup, I very apprehensively plugged this one in to my dock and connected my Macbook by seating it as directed. IT WORKED! I'm using it right now, and it's brilliant and it looks dead-gorgeous!My only problem is that they sent me the wrong color... I ordered Space Gray and got Silver, but I will edit this to see if they rectify the issue (an excellent reflection of their customer service, depending on their response).Otherwise, 5 Stars, don't think about this one, just buy it!
